A wedding invitation is more than just a card- it’s a work of art that tells the story of two souls uniting. Your story is unique and special, and when you team up with an artist, you can make the little details of your love story a part of your wedding as well.
Maybe your first kiss was under a cherry blossom tree, the light shining through the branches- that can be a part of your invitation. Or maybe your nicknames for each other are honey bear and honeybee, and you love to read children’s story books to go to sleep… an illustration, done in a story book style would encapsulate both of those ideas at once. Many couples choose to use the flowers that will be included in their wedding for the invitation to make it cohesive, and to give their guests a little sneak peek of what they can expect in the wedding. The main idea is that it is special, it’s yours, and no one else will ever be able to say that they have the same invitation as you. When the wedding is over, the invitations will be so beautiful that you can frame one and hang it in your home as a piece of art.
I love to work with couples on this part of their wedding. It is a creative collaboration from the heart. Some people have a very clear vision of their invite in their minds, and the only trick is to translate it to the page. Others may not be so sure, or have a bunch of separate ideas but are unsure how to bring them together. I can work with you if all you have in mind is a vibe, or if you know exactly what you need.
If you are local to the Northwest Arkansas area, we can meet up in person to brainstorm, look at other invitations for inspiration and sketch. I love to meet my clients in person to feel their vibes, and get a close idea of what would suit them best. We can discuss paper styles, finish types, and other details for your wedding in a very tactile way. If you are not local, we can zoom or just email one another back and forth. I’m very open to any and all ideas, art styles, and concepts. My specialty is watercolor, but my art style is super flexible.
Your wedding invitation suite can be as large or small as you like. Here’s a few ideas for extra special details. Traditionally, wedding invitations include the card for the suite, and an RSVP card so your guests can let you know whether or not they will be able to attend, but there are many possibilities for making your invitation suite even more wow-worthy.

Family Crests
Some couples want to essentially make a “logo”, family crest or a monogram for their wedding, often composed of the first initials of their names, or their last name. It can be used in the ceremony as well as on the invitations. It can be used to make wax seals for the invitations, or it can be embroidered onto the bride’s veil, or onto the napkins on each table- creating an unforgettable keepsake for your guests.
Belly Bands
Belly bands are a more modern classic touch, and they are a simple but classic way to pull the entire wedding suite together, while making it feel especially luxe. This detail often, but not always, includes the couple’s monogram on it, but I’ve seen lovely belly bands that use florals, or a handwritten message from the couple as well.
Envelope Liners
Envelope liners are a gorgeous way to make extra details from your wedding suite pop. They are visually stunning, and can even be used as a way to showcase a special flower, crest, or other detail.
Wedding Maps
Wedding maps are perfect for the couples who have destination weddings, or whose wedding will take place in multiple locations- for instance, the dress rehearsal may be at one venue, while the ceremony will take place at another, and then the after party at a third place. Sometimes couples will reserve a hotel for their guests, or there will be various parties before or after the ceremony. Giving them an idea of where everything is located in a city can help your guests feel more oriented in a new place, and confident about where they will be going for each event. It’s also an opportunity to highlight your special places- perhaps a coffee shop or park is important to your love story, and you want to recommend it.
Wedding Menus
Wedding menus can be useful for plenty of reasons- some couples choose to include a card with the invitation suite and RSVP that includes the menu options, as well as a form if anyone attending has special dietary needs, so you or your catering staff can be prepared to serve everyone attending. During the dinner, some couples also like to have a visual menu as well, to showcase every course, and explain why they are special. Some couples have signature cocktails and wish to highlight the offerings on the bar- or just to tell a funny story about some of the chosen drinks!
Some couples love to have a pattern, made just for them, that can be used across the entire wedding and visually pull everything together. These can be printed on fabric for table runners, handkerchiefs, bows, wedding backdrops, and I’ve even seen these printed and incorporated into the wedding cake! Even if a print isn’t your style, bakeries love to have something to base a custom cake off of, and a pattern gives them a ton of inspiration- from the color pallette to subject matter. Wedding planners also love this, as it is an easy and simple way to ensure that every element of your wedding comes together visually.
Wedding Venue Paintings
The location of your wedding is special, and a painting of it to hang at the wedding, or in your home after your wedding, can be a way to remember your special day. It could also be used for information cards- which contain extra details your guests should know, or even the invitation!
Handmade Guest Books
Because I have experience making handmade books, this is also a potential offering for your wedding suite. Each guest can make an entry in your wedding book, and it is an unforgettable way to receive well wishes from each guest. Each wedding book can have every detail customized to them- from the color of the stitching, the papers included, the cover materials, even the stitch style! This is also an excellent way to incorporate elements from your cards into the ceremony itself.
I’m excited to hear from you, and to work with you on your very special day!
